Bow, Wow!
Have a 102 Dalmatians Party
Join the pooches from 102 Dalmatians and host a party for your child! Penny Warner, author of Slumber Parties (Meadowbrook Press, 2000) has great ideas for dog house invitations, creative canine games and silly snacks.
Make Dog House Invitations
Cut out a white square folded card for the doghouse. Cut out a black triangle for the roof and glue it to the top of the folded side of the square, so the card opens at the bottom. Dot the house with black felt marker to make Dalmatian spots. Cut out a picture of a Dalmatian and glue it inside the house. Write party details around the dog and mail to guests. Other Ideas
- Ask the guests to come as Dalmatians. Or have them come dressed creatively in black and white or in polka dots.
- Have a parent greet the guests dressed as Cruella De Vil. Have extra parents dress as Horace and Jasper.
Give the guests dog tags to wear around their necks. Have them "engraved" using a permanent black marker, with their "dog names," such as Pongo, Perdita, Patches, Freckles, Penny and Pepper. Or have the kids make up their own dog names.
- Have a face painter decorate the guests' faces to look like Dalmatians.
- Decorate the party room with lots of Dalmatian pictures all over the walls. Set out Dalmatian puppies, cutouts and characters from the movie.
- Set the table with Dalmatian party products, or use a white paper tablecloth covered with black dots, using a black marker and matching dotted cups and napkins.
- Fill the room with black and white balloons, black and white streamers and black and white polka dots hanging from the ceiling. Add black dots to the white balloons and white dots to the black balloons, using acrylic paints.
- Line the path to the doorway with paw prints to welcome the guests, and scatter more around the party room, leading to the bathroom, kitchen and outdoors.
- Fill dog bowls with candy "dog" treats.
- Play "Dog Charades." Think up some titles of dog movies, books and songs, such as Beethoven, A Boy and His Dog
