Stimulating Activities for Your 8-month-old Baby

By Tammy Morey

Pages:  1  2  3  4

Because of her increased ability to communicate, it should be easier for you to understand her feelings by observing her expressions and gestures and to differentiate between her cries, expressions and body movements. You will usually understand when she is hungry, sleepy, frightened, wet, uncomfortable or over-stimulated. The amazing and innate sense of understanding what and when she needs something is the miracle of having established the bond that only a parent and child can have.

She delights in showing you her feelings of pleasure, excitement, anger, fear and sadness by smiling, wiggling, frowning, crying and laughing out loud. Although she has become quite good at expressing her emotions, she still needs your continued support to help her with her feelings, comfort her when she is frightened or upset and protect her when she is overwhelmed.

She has also developed a more sophisticated way to communicate with you. She listens carefully to you and responds as if she were speaking perfectly understandable English. She can combine facial expressions with body movements and sounds.

She loves to imitate your expressions and actions and may o so with greater accuracy. She tries diligently to make the same sounds that she hears you use, and her babbling even begins to sound like she's carrying on a conversation using questions, requests, exclamations, singing songs and even shouting when she's upset. Take advantage of the process by showing her skills and encouraging her to imitate you.

Another important thing to remember is that she will always show you her truest and strongest feelings. Her smiles will be the brightest for you and her laughs – as well as her cries – the loudest. She knows that she can share her deepest feelings with you because you will be there for her, and she can trust you love her unconditionally.

This article was interesting and informative. Peek a boo and hide and seek are activities mentioned. What did you want the writer to suggest? Basket weaving?

Nor does it have anything to do with Brain Building. And who is this person? What are her qualifications?

Interesting article, but the title should be changed. It is not helpful in regards to giving examples of activities and games.
