Brain Builders
Stimulating Activities for Your 9-month-old Baby
By Tammy Morey
At 9 months, language begins to play a magical part of her world. Clearly she understands more words than she is capable of using. The sounds that she is making may also begin to sound as though she is carrying on a complete conversation with you. The sounds that she babbles might include "dada, "ma" and "ba." "No" is also one she obviously unerstands as well as comprehends from your tone, though will rarely complying with.
She can also respond to her name by looking in the direction from which it came. Take advantage of this opportunity to reinforce the recognition behavior by saying her name often. The key to her mastery of communication is through her exposure. The more you talk to her, the more she will learn. A recent study indicated that the greatest predictor of intelligence is the amount of words a child hears on a daily basis. It's important to mention that the exposure was based upon interactive communication as opposed to TV time or background music and chatter.

Brain Builders: 9-month-old by williamparkar on 01/04/2010 02:35AM
Funny that I read this tonight, because today we were looking through his scrapbbok and these details are fresh in my mind ... he did not sit up without support until 9 months old. He rolled belly to back at 3 1/2 months but did not go back to front until 8.5 months. He crawled around a year or so (I can't recall), and walked at 15 months. He was extremely vocal, but only said a word or two a few times, around a year. And then stopped. He did not speak another "real" word until after his 3rd birthdy, once I had him in special needs preschool. ssd festplatten
