Jackie, mom to Kelly Craig

Our daughter was rather small (4 pounds, 5 ounces), but perfectly healthy. For a while, I was concerned that something was really wrong, even though everything indicated I had nothing to worry about. I wish I would have learned a little earlier that when my daughter slept, I should try to sleep, too. Instead, both my husband and I were in awe of this little person, and we were comforted by hearing her breathe while she was sleeping. We could have enjoyed her even more when she was awake if we had tried to get more sleep and/or rest.

I wish somebody had told me how my body and life would adapt pretty easily to the adjustments, rather than always making it seem as though life would be constantly in an uproar. You get used to less sleep, less play, and your body adapts. You don't always feel tired; it diminishes over time. It is not as negative as a lot of people make it seem!

I wish someone would have told me that even when we were away from the baby there were never really any "nights off." You sit and worry yourself to death until you break down and run back to where you feel you are needed.
