I Wish Someone Had Told Me...
Pregnancy Advice
By iParenting Staff
I really wish someone would have prepared me for the fear of being a mom! I mean, how you just have to get up in the middle of the night, simply to make sure that the baby is OK. Or worrying that you're feeding them the right amount and if they are getting the adequate nutrition. It seems funny once you are into the swing of being a parent, but the fear in those first few months can be overwhelming.
I think I had mostly heard it all. I have a lot of friends that are new moms and they were sure to fill me in on just about everything. I don't think that anything really prepares you -- all pregnancies are different and all babies are different. I would say to any new moms-to-be out there to take your two-day hospital stay and have help for a while! Try to rest when the baby is resting... even though it is hard to do.
I guess I wish that someone would have told me that you would be having the door open to go to the bathroom for a brief moment; when your children are up all night sick that mommy is the only one who would make them feel better; as soon as you pick up the phone your child would need you; mommies are never allowed to be sick; you'd find yourself singing "Sesame Street" or "Blue's Clues" songs in the shower or at work; your schedule revolves around not missing "Sesame Street" or "Blue's Clues"; some days you can't wait for nap time but you miss your children when they are sleepng; your kids dress better than you; but most of all, that I wouldn't trade anything. My family is the best and most awesome blessing. Having children is the greatest reward anyone could ever have.
